This impressive 51,325 square-foot, three-story facility, designed by Mithun, transforms learning for students in Business, Humanities, and Social Sciences pathways. The CILE fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative educational approaches, with a thoughtful layout that integrates classrooms, collaborative zones, and faculty offices on each level for seamless access. The lighting design enhances the visual connections to the surrounding campus and the majestic Mount Rainier, creating an inspiring environment for active learning.
The CILE also champions flexibility and sustainability. Its lighting solutions support the building's multimedia-enriched laboratories and state-of-the-art instructional spaces, adapting to the evolving needs of modern students. Learning opportunities extend outdoors with features like the Anthropology classroom and a landscape showcasing native plantings and visible rainwater management. The lighting design contributes to the CILE's LEED Silver target, highlighting sustainable features such as an 80kW solar array and efficient water management systems, all while providing an inviting and dynamic space for lifelong learning.
