Hines Corporation
Bank of America Building

With the construction boom occurring in Seattle, this 1980s high rise was in the need of a facelift to keep up with the expectations of new and existing building tenants. The renovation of the 800 5th Ave lobby transformed an outdated one story volume into a high scale, multilevel space. The lobby now has a renewed transparency and strong street presence, both things with which it struggled before. A refined aesthetic was achieved through thoughtful integration of lighting into architectural details including a ceiling integrated metal trough that continues from interior to exterior. Lighting also played a role in crafting intimate sitting and meeting areas within the larger lobby volume. Furniture integrated lighting, along with carefully placed floor lamps, table lamps, and pendants create additional layers of light to help define spaces.
